Dad’s Birthday 2024

Today you would have been ninety four
That’s a lot of years but I wish you had more
I wish some people would never die
There would be a few, I cannot lie
You would certainly be one of these
I guess it isn’t possible just to please

We think of you a hell of a lot
We speak to you, whether you hear us or not
I hope you’re happy whatever you’re up to
I wonder if someone’s looking after you

Mum still misses you every day
But she’s always brave, come what may
I wish I was as brave as mum
She will put on a smile when we come
Deep down you can see the sorrow in her eyes
She loved you so much and occasionally she sighs

Bev and I think about you too
We talk to each other to get us through
Today is a hard day, but one thing’s for sure
We’ll remember the good times, though we wish there were more

Happy birthday dad, have a good day up there
I hope you get a bottle of Remi to share
As a dad and a husband, you were definitely first class
We will be thinking of you as we raise a glass
