Robyn
What can I say about Robyn, my key nurse here
I will describe her honestly, without any fear
She may not like some of what I put
But my words will be coming deep from my gut
She loves playing Rummykub when she gets chance
When she wins, she does a little dance
Telling the rest of us that she’s the best
She’s probably right because she beats the rest
I’ll never forget when we held a ’talent show’ on the ward here
The fun we had, smiling ear to ear
Robyn was holding her instrument the wrong way round
But the group’s singing & dancing was a fantastic sound
She keeps telling me to try a parmo
I’ve seen what they look like so I don’t think so!
She laughs at me always eating a jacket with cheese
But I like plain food, I’m easy to please
When Robyn has time off the ward
She goes to make a cuppa, realises something’s untoward
“WHO’S USED MY MUG?” she would loudly shout
“It’s usually in here but it’s nowhere about”
Everyone looks blankly “I don’t know where it is”
“So your mug’s gone missing, stop getting in a tis!”
She’s told me to be a positive Polly, not a negative Nelly
Even when I can feel the churning in my belly
She encourages me to use my skills
Whether that’s art, games or popping some pills
Robyn has helped me over the past few weeks
Giving me time to listen to her & time to speak
She has offered so much support & kind words
Or she’ll tell me my thoughts are really absurd
Either way I know she’s got my back
Even when I’m giving her flack
So I’d like to thank you Robyn for being a great nurse
You have certainly made me better, not worse
