The Feeling Of A New Beginning

Today was the day that I told
It wasn’t easy, I had to be bold
After 30 years the time had come
Now it has left me empty and numb

I’ve carried this burden on my shoulders
An unwanted weight, shackles and boulders
I’ve had great support from family and friends
And now was the time to make amends

How do I feel? I really don’t know
Relieved? Proud? But not depressed or low
Maybe now I can have some fun
It’s like the clouds have gone and out comes the sun

All I know is I’m glad it’s over
I want to shout, scream and roll in the clover
I thought I’d lose, but it feels like I’ve won
I hope that’s settled, dusted and done
